Fagget Fairys - Copenhagen

Copenhagen is a small local heaven; intimate and safe, while also multi faceted and exciting. Name any scene you want, and chances are that it is well represented here in the all encompassing city.

What we really like is that new projects sprout up everywhere all the time—making life in Copenhagen interesting—while there’s still space to enjoy life’s quieter moments.

About

Fagget Fairys consist of DJ Sensimilla & MC ENA, feeding you with electro-grime beats and sweet baile balkan rap… It’s a journey through heavy basslines, electro-techno beats and the live performance of MC ENA.

They met on the dancefloor, whilst Dj Sensimilla was spinning records and MC Ena was rocking the music and stage-dived to get Sensimilla’s attention. She got it, as well as 20 stitches in the knee. Soon after finding a shared love for music, and for each other, the two formed Fagget Fairy’s and have since made small waves in the DJ communities of the world with their specific mix of electro beats and balkan MCing.

One of the best and most historically interesting spots in town is of course the world famous free zone Christania. We would recommend buying a bag of pot, walking to Morgenstedet, ordering one of todays specials and enjoying a fantastic meal in the idyllic garden.

Then have a joint for dessert and continue out on town.

Another great weekend trip and ideal brunch haven is this new and family friendly cafe. The weekend brunch is great and the atmosphere is a little hippie and india inspired. And while you hang out in this neighborhood take a walk down the canal in front of the cafe and enjoy some of the prettiest houseboats in town. Famous people live there ;-)

Copenhagen harbor’s diamond in the rough is the area known as Nordhavnen. When you first arrive at Nordhavnen it looks cold and industrial, but if you walk out Færgehavnsvej you will suddenly notice a small red & white café known as what we call a “smørrebrøds cafe”.

Here they make fantastic smørrebrød which will give you a feeling of authentic danish trucker life. Come early and bring cash, they close @ 2pm. After eating your smørrebrød keep walking or biking further out until you reach Nordsøvej also known as Fiskerihavnen. Fagget used to live here and it was where we had our first real date! it’s still a place we both go to when we need to get away from it all and remind ourselves that sometimes less is more!

Wonderland Art Space is our favorite new gallery in Copenhagen. It’s run by our good friends & colleagues at Wonderland who do the riveting Wonderlandonline blog – and while it’s a smaller player in the CPH art scene, it is giving the big names a run for their money, with a refreshing attitude and exhibitions by some of the most interesting new talent in Scandinavia.

This lovely new bakery in our hood serves up some of our favorite iced coffee and croissants. We have a love/hate relationship with them because of their extremely high prices (23kr for a soft boiled egg!!?) but we simply can’t resist their roast beef sandwiches.

And thank goodness – there’s finally a place in the neighborhood with good ice coffee!

A new and very popular summer spot in Copenhagen is this vibrant and unfortunately at times dirty ghetto beach. However the sea water is clean and you can be sure to get refreshed when you dive in!

Also this “beach” is a place to check out a booty or two, have a drink, play petang, basketball or water polo, .....??

    Good enough to eat

Jolenes is run by our Icelandic friends Dora and Dora and is partly known for it’s lesbian celeb couple Dora and Djuna who are more or less icons of this amazing art bar. Jolenes always hosts great DJ´s on the weekends and you can find a quiet smoking backroom, a hot and rocking main room and a refreshing outdoor space. Finally, our lovely friend Anika, is the main brain behind the deco!

Selectors during the week: alternative darksided 7inches, tunes to watch girls cry, ballads, weird-stuff, slowdancing & Alain Finkelkrautrock!
Mixing on weekends: electronic stuff, indie, edgy hiphop, adult-raving, b-b-baltimore, italo disco & good popmusic!
