Located within the classic summer chill-out spot, Kongens Have, Rosenborg Slot is Copenhagen’s most popular royal castle. Built in the modest Dutch Renaissance style—it’s been around since 1624—it has been used intermittently as a royal residence and was eventually opened to the public in 1838. The castle is conveniently located near Nørreport station and offers visitors an incredible range of artifacts spanning the 16th to 19th centuries including the Crown Jewels and Danish Crown Regalia. Devotees of history and Renaissance architecture won’t be disappointed.
