Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard once stated that the hub of the universe is Amagertorv. While that might have been a bit hyperbolic, we do find that Cafe Europa 1989, smack center in this district, brings a wonderful mix of European café house traditions all under one roof: French cafes, Viennese cake houses, Italian coffee menus, the Spanish tapas and the Greek yogurts. Yum.

Added to its list of accolades is the fact that four of Europa 1989’s baristas have been honored with the Word Barista Championship, the Oscars of coffee roasting and brewing. Importing a specialized blend of coffee to ensure quality, a cuppa Joe here can get quite pricey—hands-down the most expensive in Copenhagen—so do sip slowly. The cafe also takes its meal equally as seriously: cooks prepare meals using organic and bio-fresh ingredients in addition to experimenting with molecular preparations and slow-food cooking which requires long temperatures over long periods of time.Quote_gray
