David Cronenberg's Crash

The 1996 film by David Cronenberg is based on the 1973 J.G. Ballard novel of the same name.

Graphically depicting the stories of a group of people taking sexual pleasures from car accidents the movie was extremely controversial and was assailed from various groups and critics when it was first released, leading to restricted showings and bans in many countries, though this later resided somewhat.

Winning the Special Jury Prize at 1996 Cannes Film Festival, the movie was also voted on of the 1990’s best films in a poll of film critics done by The Village Voice.
